After much poking and prodding I have been convinced to revive our little weblog. However now it comes under a new title and from another place (as we're no longer on Linden Ln).
The first order of business is to address the passing of Nancy. Dear Nancy. In failing health she was overcome by her 18+ wonderful years. Nancy endured several moves over that time and even made it to Alameda, where she has found her final resting place – a quiet, pretty spot in the garden of 1614 Chapin St. I formed quite an attachment to that quirky little cat and she will be sorely missed. Elizabeth took this, perhaps the last, picture of Nan, exploring the back yard here in Alameda. She so much enjoyed ambling around the back yard and garden, taking in the sights and smells. There was a ton of heart left in that frail, failing body.
"Life Under 25" refers to speed limit on 99% of Alameda island, which gives the city a slow paced, quiet town feel. Although a bit more gritty and "real" than Mill Valley it still has a charm that Marin lacks. The architecture is lovely, as there are more victorian homes than anywhere else, with the exception of San Francisco and what's not victorian is a mix of craftsman, spanish and the odd 50s modern... Ok, there are some crappy 60s/70s apartments but they are in the minority.
It's been so long and there's soooo much to tell... what we've been up to... things to see and do in Alameda and the rest of the east bay... the two new additions to our household (I mention them now but they'll get their own post. This first one is Nancy's.)
More to come.
